The “Wedding of the Year”: Marc Jacobs and Char Defrancesco Tie the Knot
April 6th, The Grill in New York, New York - The Wedding of the Year. I’m still upset that the mailroom was too backed up to process my invitation to Marc Jacobs and Char Defrancesco’s wedding - but they're hard working people who (I regret to inform) don’t know me by name, so I can’t fully blame them. Instead, I’ll have to celebrate their special moments - and the equally important fashion moments that came with it - from afar. Given Jacobs’ elaborate flash-mob-Chipotle proposal, the wedding was sure to be an affair to remember.
Jacobs had Alessandro Michele design 3 pairs of boots for him, while Defrancesco wore a velvet, green suit. Let me repeat that: a velvet, green suit. Stay tuned for my new Pinterest board with inspiration for my dream wedding suit. With grooms who look this good, it’s hard to compare, but the guests certainly didn’t disappoint. Real Housewife Erika Jayne fittingly wore Marc Jacobs, as did sister models Bella and Gigi Hadid and Ke Grand. Supermodel Naomi Campbell wore a sheer top and dazzling cape and pants by Balmain. Even Kate Moss, Virgil Abloh, and Anna Wintour were there; how could it be the wedding of the year without the Editor-in-Chief of Vogue?
The grooms wore penguin pins made of black onyx, a reference to penguins’ habit of mating for life, gifted to them by Fabio Zambernardi, design director of Prada and Miu Miu. The celebration, which included a five-tier cake and dance performances, surely was a night to remember.
With all that being said, Marc, I’ll take a front row invite for SS20 to make up for this mail room fiasco. I sincerely hope the new collection is inspired by your marital bliss.
