Read what the Brown Daily Herald had to say about the event:

Join us for “A Talk with Stuart Weitzman: An Entrepreneurial Journey on the Road Less Traveled”

An exceptional opportunity to hear how business and fashion icon Stuart Weitzman built his globally renowned company through a unique approach to marketing, unfettered imagination, risks, and partnerships inside and outside of the company. Weitzman’s creations, labelled the “It Shoes,” dominate red carpet events, worn by loyal celebrities and actors alike.

In 2015, Weitzman sold his company for $574 million to fashion house Coach, which retained Mr. Weitzman as chairman and creative director. Reportedly, the talent of Mr. Weitzman himself — known as a hands-on manager — was a big part of the brand’s allure for Coach.

A reception will follow Mr. Weitzman's talk.

The Met Gala: Heavenly Bodies

An evening of heavenly smoke and mirrors and worshiping at the altar of fashion. Forget New York City--the Met Gala is coming to Providence and it's on our terms now. It's fashion's biggest night out, and we want you to join Fashion at Brown (f@b) and Small Victories and pick your path as a saint or a sinner, an angel or a devil.

ATTIRE // (TLDR: angels & heaven) The Met Gala is the pinnacle of style and this past year's theme was Heavenly Bodies. We're adding a little SV twist on that F@B style. It's time to don those ethereal outfits, throw on an angel's halo, and embody that heavenly being you truly are. The last few tickets are available now! Ticket sales will close at 6. We can't wait to see you all tonight in your most ~heavenly~ attire. We're feeling angels, olympians, ethereal outfits. Break out all those sparkly shirts and dresses and makeup you have.

Where // Hope Artiste Village

When // Friday, April 5, 9pm-1am

Tickets // http://tinyurl.com/yyy2n6pn

*For this event, Fashion at Brown and Small Victories are borrowing the theme of the Metropolitan Museum of Art's 2018 Met Gala, "Heavenly Bodies,"  and recognize the potential religious connotation behind the theme. No disrespect to Catholicism is intended and we ask guests to be respectful of the religious beliefs of others in their choice of attire. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to reach out to us

Professor Steven Faerm from the Parsons School of Design is here to host a design workshop! This 2-hour workshop explores design thinking and the narrative as they coexist within the fields of art and design.  It is about storytelling for artists and designers, how the “story” is created, what it conveys, and how it is conveyed. We’ll explore traditional and experimental narrative techniques used in fashion, film, literature, historical conservation, music composition, marketing and branding, and more!

Several Powerpoint presentations will stage our diverse creative exercises (writing and sketching) that put theory into practice.  No matter what you are studying at Brown, this workshop will strengthen your creativity! All are welcome. To attend the workshop please sign up using the link below.

If possible, prescreen The Shining (1980) if you have not seen it before.  We'll analyze it together.
